South Africa midfielder Keagan Dolly has admitted they anticipate a tough game when they come up against Guinea Africa in their TotalEnergies African Nations Championship fixture at Nelson Mandela Stadium on Monday.
Bafana Bafana kicked off their Group C campaign with a 1-1 draw against Algeria while Guinea suffered a humiliating 3-0 defeat against hosts Uganda.
“We had a good match against Algeria, it was the first game (of the tournament) and as the coach said, we wanted to break the ice (in Kampala). It’s helped gain confidence for us and now it’s just to focus on ourselves, prepare for each and every game and think of it as a final,” Dolly told the media ahead of the game.
“We know that tomorrow’s game is not going to be easy. We have done our homework off the field, and for us it’s just to stick to our structure, stick to what we want to achieve as a team and go out there and perform. We take each game as it comes and tomorrow, we’re focusing on Guinea,” Dolly said.
For South Africa, it will be their fifth clash against a West African team, with past results showing mixed fortunes, including wins over Ghana and Niger in 2011, a draw with Mali, and a defeat to Nigeria in 2014.
