CHAN: Zambia will do everything to win against Morocco – Avram Grant

Zambia national team head coach Avram Grant says his side respects Morocco but they will do everything to beat the two-time African Nations Championship (CHAN) winners when the two sides meet on Thursday at Nyayo National Stadium.

After back-to-back defeats against DR Congo and Angola, the Chipolopolo will have to win their remaining Group A matches against the Atlas Lions and Kenya to stand a chance of reaching the knockout stages.

“We didn’t want to lose the two games but it is part of the game. We are concentrating on our team not opponents. Sometimes you lose and draw. We will not copy Morocco but play something that is good for us. We respect Morocco and they play good,” he said.

“There is no perfect game. We created chances but it happens. We will do everything to win tomorrow. We need to have the winning mentality, show the character after the disappointing two losses. We hope the players react well.”

Grant challenged his players to show that they were good enough to win a place in the senior team by playing at the CHAN.

“CHAN is a good platform for the local based players to show themselves. Our target is to have many players play in Europe,” added Grant. The former Chelsea manager said he was expecting an improved performance from his boys against a wounded Morocco.

“We saw them against Congo. It was not a good game, we did better against Angola and I expect more development going into this game,” he said.

Kenya top Group A with seven points with Angola lying second on four while DR Congo and Morocco have three points with Zambia lying at the base with zero points.
