Ghana’s senior female team will storm onto the pitch for the second leg of the 2026 Women AFCON qualifiers against Egypt despite initially threatening to boycott the game over delayed bonuses from the last tournament in Morocco.
The Black Queens will host the North Africans on Tuesday after a 3-0 advantage from the first leg in Ismailia with goals from Doris Boaduwaa, Mary Amponsah and Grace Asantewaa.
Chantelle Boye-Hlorkah, who plies her trade with Nottingham Forest has charged her teammates to go all out in the game at the Accra Sports Stadium.
“First half completed 3-0. Let’s go again and get the job done,” she posted on social media.
The players had earlier abandoned training over unpaid bonuses, leading to a meeting with the Minister of Sports and Recreation, Honourable Kofi Adams.
The winner of both legs will secure any of the nations a place at the next Women’s Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco, which also serves as the qualifiers for the Women’s World Cup in 2027.
