Chelle wants ‘best striker in the world’ Osimhen to make right transfer decision

Nigeria head coach Eric Chelle has called on Super Eagles forward Victor Osimhen to make a good transfer choice this summer.

According to the Malian tactician, he already anticipates that several clubs will go for the services of Osimhen, whom he named one of the best strikers in the world. Osimhen was on loan at Galatasaray this season, where he helped the side to clinch a double.

Galarasaray won the Turkish Süper Lig and Turkish Cups with Osimhen, who was left out of the Super Eagles squad for the international friendly away against Russia on Friday.

“Victor is, for me, the best striker in the world,” Chelle told BBC Sport Africa. “For him, it is difficult to come for this game because he played a season with a lot of pressure.

“The reality is there is a transfer window. During this time, a player like him is not focused 100%. I need to protect him physically and mentally, because maybe he will go [on a transfer].

“Maybe a club like Manchester United. Or maybe Chelsea, Barcelona or Real Madrid. So he needs to be focused on that.”

According to Chelle, he has never seen a player like Osimhen, who wants to score goals “even when he sleeps”.

“He wants to win everything during training. It’s crazy,” explained Chelle. “When the training session finishes, he wants to stay on the pitch and score again and again.

“I think maybe even when he sleeps he wants to score too.”

Last season, Osimhen managed 30 league matches, scored 26 goals and provided five assists.
