Chelsea block Nicolas Jackson loan deal to Bayern Munich after injury scare

English Premier League side, Chelsea have reportedly made a U-turn on their decision to loan striker Nicolas Jackson to Bayern Munich, just hours before the deal was set to be finalised.

The Blues have now told the German champions that the Senegalese international will not be allowed to leave Stamford Bridge, following a hamstring injury to new signing Liam Delap, who is to be out for the period of six to eight weeks.

The England international was injured on Saturday during Chelsea’s 2-0 win over Fulham at Stamford Bridge. Prior to the incident, a season-long loan deal for Jackson to join Bayern Munich had been verbally agreed upon by both clubs, with a loan fee of £13million.

Reports from transfer expert David Ornstein of The Athletic indicated that Jackson was already in Munich, having flown to Germany to undergo his medical and sign the contract. The deal was even said to include a purchase option for Bayern, potentially making it a record-breaking loan fee.

However, the injury to Delap completely reshaped Chelsea’s attacking plans. With Christopher Nkunku having already departed for AC Milan this summer, the club’s striking options were already thin. Maresca, speaking after the Fulham match, admitted that the team would be “short of strikers” and needed to find a “quick solution.”
