Chelsea FC defender Tosin Adarabioyo has explained what makes Cameroonian attacker Bryan Mbeumo and his Congolese counterpart Yoane Wissa ‘a dynamic duo’ for Brentford FC.
The English defender said this after managing to neutralize the threat of the African duo in a Premier League goalless draw between Chelsea and Brentford on Sunday. Adarabioyo told Chelsea’s website that he was pleased with a solid defensive display and another clean sheet on the travels against Brentford.
“It’s a tough place to come to, so to come away with a clean sheet and a point is a positive that we can take,” Adarabioyo said.
The centre-back then explained why the Blues had to manage the Cameroonian and Congolese players and prevent them from scoring.
“Those two [Bryan Mbeumo & Yoane Wissa] are a very dynamic duo. They attack you and attack you hard and fast. But I felt we dealt with those combinations. They put 11 men behind the ball and they attacked fast, but we dealt with it well,”Adarabioyo explained.
Mbeumo has scored 16 league goals this season while Wissa has 14 making them among the hottest strikers this Premier League campaign. The 27-year-old defender formed a rock-solid partnership with centre-back partner Trevoh Chalobah to keep the deadlock at the Brentford Community Stadium.
Adarabioyo has stressed the importance of building on the solid performance against Brentford in the Premier League run-in as they chase European football.
“Back-to-back clean sheets are always important, and we’ll be hoping to take that into the final few games of the season,’ he continued.
