Chemsdine Talbi elated to score for Sunderland in Newcastle win

Morocco international Chemsdine Talbi was left in cloud nine after his performance propelled Sunderland to a comeback 2-1 Premier League win away to Newcastle United at St. James’ Park on Sunday.

After falling behind in the game through Anthony Gordon, the Moroccan winger popped up inside the box to scoring the equalising goal on Tyneside. Brian Brobbey netted a 90th minute to secure victory in the Tyne-Wear derby, along with local bragging rights.

The result extends Sunderland’s dominance in the fixture in recent years, with their unbeaten run now reaching 11 matches – the longest in Tyne-Wear derby history.

‘I have no word about it’

“I think it was one of the best matches I’ve seen in my life and played in. I have no words about it,” Talbi told Sunderland website after the game.

“We work on set pieces in training; I was there to get the second ball. I was there at the right moment and I just tapped it into the net.

“It’s a big moment to score in a big game and I’m really happy. I’m just so happy to be a part of this team and play these types of games.”

Sunderland moved above Newcastle

He concluded: “I hope they enjoyed the end of the game. I just want to say thank you so much and they will push us until the end of the season.”

The victory enabled Sunderland to move up to 11th in the Premier League table, leapfrogging their bitter rivals in the process.
