Nigeria’s Chiamaka Nnadozie nominated for maiden Women’s Yashin Trophy

Nigerian and Brighton & Hove Albion goalkeeper Chiamaka Nnadozie, has been nominated for the inaugural Ballon d’Or Women’s Yashin Trophy.

Nnadozie who is the only African to be nominated, established herself as Africa’s best goalkeeper, having been crowned CAF Women’s Goalkeeper of the Year for two consecutive seasons (2023 and 2024).

The 24-year-old’s club career has also been marked by significant achievements. Until recently, she was the star shot stopper for French club Paris FC, where she delivered a heroic performance in the 2025 Coupe de France Féminine final, saving two penalties to secure the title.

She was also the first African player to receive the UNFP Division 1 Féminine Goalkeeper of the Season in 2024.

Nnadozie’d nomination comes in the wake of Nigeria’s Super Falcons 10 Women’s Africa Cup Nations (WAFCON) title, where she was also named the Best Goalkeeper of the Tournament.

The Nigerian will be up against four other goalkeepers for the award, including Ann-Katrin Berger (Gotham FC and Germany), Cata Coll (Barcelona and Spain), Hannah Hampton (Chelsea and England), and Daphne van Domselaar(Arsenal and Netherlands).
