Lured by massive cash incentives, seasoned forward Binwell Katinji has become the ninth Malawian to seek greener pastures in the Castle Lager Premier Soccer League (PSL) of Zimbabwe.
Katinji signed a season-long contract with Chicken Inn FC as a free agent from former Malawi league champions Silver Strikers on Friday. He put pen to paper a day before his new employers get their 2026-2027 season going when they face Herentals College FC at Rufaro Stadium in Harare.

The Bulawayo-based Castle Lager PSL side confirmed the Flames’ player’s arrival alongside Namibian Alex Mumnago.
Katinji has joined other Malawians in the Zimbabwe league, including goalkeeper William Thole (Simba Bhora), Lloyd Njaliwa and Chawanangwa Kaonga (CAPS United), Nixon Nyasulu, Precious Phiri, Maxwell Paipi (FC Platinum), Gomezgani Chirwa (Ngezi Platinum) and Mark Fodya (Manica Diamonds).
Strikers have not confirmed the exit of their impact striker Katinji but instead, via a statement, announced the recruitment of goalkeeper Christopher Mikuwa from MAFCO FC and defender Lumbani Nyondo from Chitipa United.
Speaking to the Lilongwe-based team’s media, the former Malawi under-20 first-choice keeper Mikuwa described his switch to the eight-time FDH Premiership champions as a dream coming true.
“Joining Silver Strikers means more than just playing for a club. It means becoming part of a family with a strong legacy and passionate supporters. This move means stepping up my game and taking on a bigger challenge. I am proud to begin this journey,” Mikuwa said.
The Bankers confirmed Nyondo’s arrival from Chitipa United on a three-year contract evidently to replace Maxwell Paipi who also joined Zimbabwean outfit FC Platinum.
