Zamalek received a setback ahead of their CAF Confederation Cup opener, as Angolan winger Chico Banza hasn’t returned from the international duty and was absent from training for the second consecutive day.
His continued absence places him on the brink of missing the team’s upcoming fixture against Zesco United in the first round of the group stage.
A club source revealed to Yallakora:
“Chico Banza missed yesterday’s and today’s training. He informed us that he has personal circumstances.”
The source continued:
“The Angolan player confirmed that he will return as soon as possible, but he is now close to missing the upcoming match against Zesco.”
Banza had joined the Angola national team during the November international break and featured in a friendly against Argentina.
Zamalek will launch their group-stage campaign on Sunday evening when they host Zesco United at Cairo International Stadium.
