Matías Almeyda confirms Chidera Ejuke fit to face Athletic Bilbao

Sevilla manager Matías Almeyda has confirmed that Nigerian forward Chidera Ejuke will be available for the Spanish side’s opening La Liga game of the season.

Almeyda shared this update on Friday where he was quoted by the club’s official website that the Nigeria international is in contention to face Athletico Bilbao. The Sevila boss stated that Ejuke will be available for the match.

“Pedrosa, Ejuke, and Idumbo will be available. Tomorrow I’ll announce the players who will travel, and I always like them to know first.”

Ejuke sustained a thigh injury in training last month, during a pre-season training session last month. The setback was a concern for the new coach, who had seen the winger as a potential contributor for his attack.

However, the Nigerian’s rapid return to full training this week has put him in contention for the squad that will travel to Bilbao. The Rojiblancos will travel to San Mames for their matchday one encounter against Athletic Bilbao on Sunday.

Ejuke’s compatriot Jerome Adams is also expected to be included in the squad.
