Ben Youssef demands results in Chiefs’ next two tests

Kaizer Chiefs assistant coach Khalil Ben Youssef has stressed that the squad is acutely aware of the weight and importance of the two crucial fixtures on their immediate horizon, dismissing the need for a motivational lecture on playing for the club.

Amakhosi face AmaZulu FC on Wednesday night at FNB Stadium in Soweto with a clear objective: securing three points to vault back into the top three in the Betway Premiership standings. That pressure cooker match is immediately followed by a test in the Carling Knockout Last 16 against a familiar opponent, Stellenbosch FC, a side Chiefs have successfully navigated in recent encounters.

The Standard is Non-Negotiable at Chiefs

Ben Youssef made it clear that the club’s philosophy is an inherent part of the job, not a talking point:

“I think we will try to manage all the players, our players know the situation and the importance of the upcoming two games… They know the importance,” he stated. “We have started the analysis, our players know it’s not about for us to tell them what they have to do, we’re Kaizer Chiefs, we play to win every game—there’s no need to explain to them this situation, they know everything.”

Addressing the Scoring Drought at Chiefs

While the team spirit is high, Chiefs face the tangible challenge of a scoring drought, having failed to net more than one goal in their last eight matches. The last time they breached the single-goal barrier was their 2-0 win over a ten-man Stellenbosch at the start of the season.

Ben Youssef insisted there is no quick fix for converting chances; only relentless effort will suffice.

“The only solution [to improve scoring] is to work,” he confirmed. “We have to work in training, repeat, analyse every training session, change what we see after analysis. We try to explain, bring other examples at the highest level to show the players.”

He concluded by placing the onus squarely on effort: “The only thing we can do is keep working, we work until everything is fixed.”
