Chiefs coach fumes over disallowed goal and penalty snub

Kaizer Chiefs co-coach Khalil Ben Youssef vented his frustration following the team’s goalless draw against TS Galaxy on Sunday in the Betway Premiership, vehemently protesting a disallowed goal and a strong second-half penalty appeal.

The 0-0 stalemate in Mbomebla marks Amakhosi’s second successive blank after failing to find the net against Chippa United in midweek, although the result was enough to push them into fourth place on the log.

However, the major talking point was the officiating. In the first half, Chiefs thought they had taken the lead when Flavio Silva scored, only for the second assistant referee to raise the flag for a controversial offside. Moments of contention continued into the second period when a clear penalty shout was waved away by the match referee.

Ben Youssef was visibly agitated during his post-match interview with SuperSport TV, insisting his side should have been awarded three points.

Chiefs Boss Left Incensed by Disallowed Goal and Penalty Snub

“We scored a goal, in my opinion, it’s a great goal,” a furious Ben Youssef stated. “Penalty! We don’t take [get awarded] penalty, and in football, what we know in football, when you score, you will win. We scored, and they removed the goal.”

The coach further bemoaned the team’s recent lack of luck despite their overwhelming offensive output, claiming his side is creating more than enough chances to win.

“We create more than 12, 13 opportunities, 26 shots on target, but finally we have to continue to work,” he added. “I don’t like to repeat myself every time we are unlucky.”
