Kaizer Chiefs marketing director Jessica Motaung has called on the Amakhosi faithful to turn out in their numbers as the club’s legends prepare for a high-stakes Soweto Derby against Orlando Pirates.
The clash, scheduled for 7 February 2026 at the historic Ellis Park Stadium, is more than just a nostalgia trip. Organised by Puzzle Pictures, the match serves as a crucial play-off; the winner will earn the prestigious opportunity to face an international legends XI in April.
Motaung expressed her excitement for the fixture, emphasizing the unique entertainment value that only a Derby can provide.
“We thank Puzzle Pictures for the invitation and we are looking ahead to this game, knowing that a win will give our legends the chance to take on some of their international legendary peers,” Motaung said. “Every derby at any level always throws up a great spectacle and this one will be no different. We have an exciting line-up and we are looking to thoroughly entertain the fans.”
For Chiefs Legends coach Thabo Mooki, the stakes are crystal clear. He has categorized the encounter as a “semi-final” with a global prize on the line.
“We want our fans to see us face the best players in the world, and to do that we need to claim bragging rights over Pirates,” Mooki told the club’s official website.
The squad is already buzzing with intensity. Former defensive stalwart Morgan Gould noted the emotional weight of the fixture, while midfielder Thuso Phala confirmed he has been maintaining peak fitness since the game was first mooted in November.
