Former
Kaizer Chiefs star Stanton Fredericks has once again turned to the Premier Soccer League (PSL) of South Africa for a solution to his
Botswana team Mochudi Centre Chiefs’ defensive problems.
Last week, the former South African international secured a loan deal for AmaKhosi reserve team defender Bobo Sima. Now, the Fredericks-owned Centre Chiefs have signed another player, Benson Kitso Mangolo, from PSL outfit Richards Bay.
In a statement, the FNB Premiership team confirms the short-term deal for the Botswana defender.
“We are pleased to announce that Benson Kitso Mangolo has signed a six-month deal with Mochudi Centre Chiefs. The versatile left-wingback joins us from Richards Bay FC,” reads part of the statement from the Botswana Premier League side.
Mangolo’s brief stay at Richards Bay
Mangolo has rejoined the Botswana club barely seven months into his one-year contract with Richards Bay. The Botswana international had signed for the Betway Premiership club in June 2025.
The left-back is the latest PSL star to move to the four-time FNB Premiership winners after veteran Zimbabwean
striker Evans Rusike, formerly of SuperSport United.
Chiefs legend Fredericks owns Centre Chiefs FC through his consortium, Stanton Fredericks Sports Group, which signed a 15-year management contract.
Last week, Fredericks hired highly-rated Spaniard Miguel Corral Torreria as the coach for Centre Chiefs.
Torreria is heading a newly-constructed coaching panel which includes former Orlando Pirates reserves’ goalkeeper coach Aubrey Vilakazi and Shagwa Mogwe, the Fitness, Strength and Conditioning coach.
