Chiefs legend Nomvethe backs Ribeiro for PSL Player of the Season

Kaizer Chiefs and Bafana Bafana icon Siyabonga Nomvethe has added his influential voice to the growing calls for Mamelodi Sundowns' in-form forward, Lucas Ribeiro, to be crowned this season's PSL Player of the Season.


Having already secured an unprecedented eighth league title last week with a match to spare, Lucas Ribeiro is set to receive his second league-winning medal when Sundowns conclude their season against Magesi FC on Sunday.


The 26-year-old Brazilian has captivated South African football fans with his skilful and high-quality attacking play, contributing an impressive 23 goals. He has scored 14 goals and provided nine assists.


Two-time PSL Player of the Season winner and all-time top scorer Nomvethe has lauded Ribeiro's consistency and aesthetically pleasing style of play.


“That boy Ribeiro is very talented, and he has really done well this season. He deserves to win the award,” Nomvethe told iDiski Times.


“He has shown us amazing talent this season, and he has been the leading player at Sundowns. He is very skilful and also fast.


“He is very consistent in scoring goals and also assisting. He has been doing things that are pleasing to watch for us as football fans.”
