Chiefs Legends ready to ignite Mpumalanga in Soweto Derby showdown

The hallowed turf of Kameelrivier Stadium in Ga-Morwe is set to become a battleground of giants this Saturday, July 5, as the Kaizer Chiefs Legends descend upon Mpumalanga for the highly anticipated Kwa-Ndebele Legends tournament.

The Amakhosi faithful will be eager to see their heroes in action, rekindling old rivalries and showcasing the timeless magic that once graced South African football pitches.

In a slight change to the dugout dynamics, coaching duties for the Glamour Boys’ legends will fall to the capable hands of Amakhosi stalwart Tshepo Molatedi, stepping in for the absent Thabo Mooki.

Molatedi will lead a formidable squad, a blend of defensive steel, midfield maestros, and prolific goalscorers, all ready to don the iconic gold and black once more.

The road to glory, however, will be fraught with familiar challenges. At midday, precisely 12pm, the Chiefs Legends will lock horns with their fiercest adversaries, Orlando Pirates, in a Soweto Derby that promises fireworks in a legendary setting.

This semifinal clash is a repeat of countless epic encounters, and while the stakes may be different, the desire to emerge victorious remains undimmed.

Should the Amakhosi legends overcome the Buccaneers, they will then face the winner of the tournament’s first semifinal. That match, kicking off at 10am, will see the Mamelodi Sundowns Legends test their mettle against the Kwa-Ndebele Legends, the tournament hosts.

Each match in this tournament will be a 70-minute affair, ensuring high-octane action from start to finish. In a twist that could lead to dramatic conclusions, any drawn games will bypass extra-time and head straight to a penalty shoot-out, guaranteeing a winner in every encounter.

“Tickets for the event are currently on sale at Computicket, priced at R100,” said Chiefs.
