Ranga Chivaviro's time at Kaizer Chiefs is set to end this month, with the club confirming his departure upon the expiry of his contract.

The 32-year-old forward arrived at Naturena two seasons ago with high hopes, fresh off a sensational 17-goal campaign for Marumo Gallants, where he netted 17 goals and was instrumental in their CAF Confederation Cup semi-final run.

However, Chivaviro's spell at the Soweto giants did not live up to expectations. Having scored nine goals and provided one assist in 45 matches, the club's leadership recommended against extending his stay, as he had the option for a one-year renewal clause.

Chiefs' decision concerning Chivaviro clears the path for the pursuit of new attacking talent, crucial for their strike force rebuild ahead of the 2025/26 season.

This strategic move follows a challenging 2024/25 season where they finished ninth, outside the top eight for a second consecutive year. Yet, the campaign wasn't without its triumph: the club won the Nedbank Cup, a significant achievement that brought an end to their 10-year wait for silverware.

"Kaizer Chiefs will not be extending striker Ranga Chivaviro's contract when it expires at the end of the month," reads the club statement.

"The Limpopo-born attacker joined Amakhosi from Marumo Gallants in the 2023/24 season on a two-year deal. He scored nine goals and provided one assist in 45 official matches wearing Chiefs colours over two seasons.

"We thank Ranga for his positive contribution to the team and wish him all the best in his future exploits."

Chivaviro's exit is likely just the beginning, as more departures are expected at Chiefs as part of their squad overhaul.
