Tanzania Men's National Team coach Hemed Suleiman has offered a glowing assessment of midfielder Feisal Salum, a player reportedly on the radar of Kaizer Chiefs.
Salum played the full 90 minutes in the Taifa Stars' goalless against Bafana Bafana in an international friendly tie at the New Peter Mokaba Stadium on Friday night.
While the match ended in a 0-0 stalemate, Azam FC star Salum, delivered a solid performance, boasting an 86% passing accuracy, 38 touches, and successfully completing three of his four long balls.
Suleiman believes Salum possesses qualities that would make him a seamless fit for the Betway Premiership. "You know, Feisal, I think he has the qualities of South African players. So, for me, he can play on any team," said Suleiman in his post-match press conference in Polokwane on Friday.
"I believe he is the best midfielder in Tanzania at the moment. He is a good player and young. We need to support him. Given the fact that he is a good player, that gives him an advantage to be able to play anywhere."
In the current 2024/25 season, Salum has scored four goals in 13 league appearances for Azam FC, who currently sit third in the Tanzanian Premier League with 57 points from 28 matches.
These comments come as Chiefs' interest in Salum appears to be intensifying. Just last week, reports indicated that Amakhosi's head coach, Nasreddine Nabi, along with Chiefs' head of scouting Thembela 'Tera' Maliwa, held a crucial meeting with Salum during their trip to Tanzania.
This meeting strongly suggests that Chiefs are keen on securing the talented midfielder for the upcoming PSL season.
