Relegation-threatened Chippa United have turned to experience to shore up their leaky defence, officially unveiling former Mamelodi Sundowns centre-back Katlego Mohamme for the remainder of the 2025/26 Betway Premiership season.
The Chilli Boys have been one of the most active teams in the 2026 January transfer window as they look to navigate a turbulent campaign that has already seen four different coaching changes.
Currently sitting precariously in 14th position, Chippa have collected just 15 points from 17 matches. With only three wins to their name all season, coach Vusumuzi Vilakazi has identified the backline as a priority area for improvement.
Mohamme joins Chippa on loan from Sekhukhune United, where he found himself frozen out of the starting lineup under Eric Tinkler. Despite his pedigree, the 27-year-old has featured only once for Babina Noko this season—a solitary appearance in the MTN8—falling behind the likes of Daniel Cardoso and Bright Ndlovu in the pecking order.

While the ex-Sundowns star Mohamme is looking to reignite a career that has stalled in recent months, Chippa are gaining a defender with extensive PSL experience.
In addition to his time at Chloorkop, Mohamme has turned out for: SuperSport United, AmaTuks and Moroka Swallows
The Eastern Cape side officially welcomed the former Sundowns man via their social media platforms on Friday morning, hailing him as a “rock at the back.”
