PSL side Chippa United has confirmed the appointment of former Orlando Pirates and Mamelodi Sundowns midfielder Musa Nyatama as their new assistant coach ahead of the 2025/26 season.

The announcement, made through a club statement on Monday, sees Nyatama join newly appointed head coach Sinethemba Badela’s technical team.

Chippa lauded Nyatama as a “decorated former footballer” with “recent coaching experience from Moroka Swallows and Laruma United FC.” The club also highlighted the coach’s “professionalism, modern football mindset, and leadership qualities” as key assets.

Chippa United chairman Siviwe “Chippa” Mpengesi expressed his satisfaction with the appointment.

“We believe the combination of coach Badela and Coach Nyatama will bring a renewed spirit and tactical sharpness to our squad,” said Mpengesi. “This is a bold and progressive step for the club.”

Mpengesi anticipates a seamless integration as he believes Nyatama and Badela’s “shared energy and fresh approach will usher in a new era for Chippa United FC, focused on entertaining football, intensity, and results.”

According to Chippa, Nyatama’s role will involve close collaboration with the first-team technical staff, focusing on tactical planning, player development, and overall squad growth.

The club emphasised that his appointment reflects their ongoing commitment to empowering young football minds and strengthening their football identity both on and off the pitch.
