Choupo-Moting’s double lifts Red Bulls over New England Revolution

Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting’s brace helped the New York Red Bulls overcome the New England Revolution 5-3 in a Major League Soccer Eastern Conference match. New England led 2-0 in the first half, but the Red Bulls came from behind to stage an epic comeback in the second half, with the Cameroon international scoring twice.

Goals from Leonardo Campana and Red Bulls player Kyle Duncan gave New England a 2-0 lead. Choupo-Moting equalized in the 70th minute after Daniel Edelman pulled one back. The 36-year-old former Bayern Munich striker collected a nice pass from Emil Forsberg to slot home from inside the area.

Choupo-Moting scored his second seven minutes before full-time with a simple finish inside the box. The Indomitable Lions player reached 13 goals for the season on his MLS debut. It is the third time this season that Choupo-Moting has bagged a brace in a match.

The New York Red Bulls are eighth with 33 points in the Eastern Conference as they fight to keep their hopes of reaching the MLS playoffs alive.
