Real Salt Lake started the game on a high and grabbed the lead with only three minutes played when Zavier Gozo found the back of the net. However, the Red Bulls levelled matters in the 52nd minute, when defender Raheem Edwards played a pass into the feet of captain Emil Forsberg, who hit a left footed cross and found Choupo-Moting, who tapped the ball into the back of the net.
Red Bull scored the second in the ninth minute of second half stoppage time, when Choupo-Moting converted from the penalty spot, finding the top right root of the net.
