Nigerian international, Christantus Uche, has become one of the most sought-after players in the final days of the transfer window, as a potential move to English Premier League side Wolverhampton Wanderers failed, which opened the door for new clubs in Europe to acquire his signature from Spanish side Getafe.
Reports indicate that Uche was on the verge of a €20million transfer to Wolves, with the two clubs having reached an agreement. However, the deal was put on hold after the player’s representatives reportedly blocked the move, citing concerns over both the financial and sporting aspects of the proposed contract.
However, AC Milan, Leeds United, and Crystal Palace have reportedly entered the race to sign the 22 year-old.
Getafe is under pressure to sell players to meet La Liga’s financial fair play regulations, and the club’s president, Ángel Torres, has openly stated that the club is “forced” to sell some of its key players.
The 22-year-old shone on his debut campaign in La Liga last season after arriving from Ceuta.
He has provided one goal and an assist in two league games this season.
