Zimbabwe football team coach Mario Marinica has given a hint of his coaching philosophy after finally starting his reign with the Warriors in Saudi Arabia on Monday.
The Warriors are camping while shaping up for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) finals in Morocco this December.
The former Malawi handler met his squad in Saudi Arabia before hitting the ground running to prepare for the friendlies against Qatar and Algeria.
Marinica has since spoken to the Zimbabwe Football Association media on the importance of the camp training.
“This friendly is an important test in our journey towards AFCON 2025,” the coach said.
“The energy is excellent. The boys are showing hunger and professionalism. This camp is about setting standards, physical, tactical, and mental.”
The former Liberia coach has since hinted on his type of play revolving around discipline and swift transitions.
Marinica also explained the importance of the back-to-back friendlies to the Warriors’ preparations for the AFCON finals.
“This match is an important test as we continue to shape our identity and prepare for AFCON 2025,” the coach added.
Zambia face Algeria at the Prince Abdul Aziz Stadium on Thursday before taking on Qatar a few days later.
