Golden Arrows coach Manqoba Mngqithi insists his team deserved to be awarded two penalties in their 1-0 loss to Magesi FC in South Africa’s top flight Betway Premiership match on Saturday.

Speaking to PrimeSportsWith Mahlatse’s YouTube channel, the former Mamelodi Sundowns mentor said while his team started the game on a low note, they picked up in the second half and deserved a point.

“I was not happy with the first half. I don't want to lie. The way we started, we were second in everything. We were not winning the duels. Towards the end of the half, we started to improve after they scored. Even the goal was an element of a mistake from our defending. In the second half, we tried to push them. We tried to create situations,” he said.

Mngqithi then seemed to suggest that referees are biased towards the home teams at Seshego Stadium in North West Province.

“I honestly think we could have had two clear penalties in my opinion and that seems to be the story for every team that comes here. I was watching the SuperSport game; I saw what happened there. I was watching the Richards Bay game; I saw what happened there. It seems every team that comes here has a story to tell,” he explained.

Lehlegonolo Mokone scored the hosts lone goal in the 27th minute to ease their relegation fears as they moved into 11th place, one point behind Arrows. Mngqithi started his reign with the Durban-based side with a one-all draw against Sundowns.
