Chad national team captain and striker Marius Mouandilmandji continues to be an important player for Turkish club Samsunspor and he was in full flight on Thursday in the UEFA Conference League.
The former FC Porto reserve team player provided a goal and an assist as Samsunspor shocked Ukrainian giants Dynamo Kiev in a 3-0 home victory. He set up Anthony Musaba’s opener (video below) inside two minutes to put the hosts ahead before adding his own goal with an opportunistic finish to double the lead in the 34th minute (video above).
The Chad national team star returned to the setup at Les Sao for the October FIFA window as they concluded their 2026 World Cup qualifying campaign, producing a goal and an assist in Chad’s 2-3 defeat to Central African Republic to conclude their fixtures in Group I. During his self-imposed exile from national team duty, the imposing forward continues to help Samsunspor punch above their weight in the Turkish Super Lig.
Samsunspor shocked all observers of the Turkish top flight by finishing third last season to qualify for UEFA club competition and the forward was a major factor with 10 goals and 4 assists in 34 matches. His league form has slipped a bit with 2 goals in 9 matches but Samsunspor are perfect through two Conference League matches, where Marius has 1 goal and 2 assists in 2 league phase matches.
Samsunspor will hope to boost their domestic league fortunes with a Super Lig home match against Çaykur Rizespor on Sunday before traveling to face Konyaspor on November 2. Their next continental fixture will be against Hamrun Spartans of Malta at home on November 6.
