Congo Brazzaville head coach Barthélemy Ngatsono said his charges are trying to build confidence before heading to the 2024 African Nations Championship (CHAN), which is due to take place in Kenya, Uganda, and Tanzania.
Congo is preparing for CHAN in Brazzaville and has been playing warm-up games against local sides. Ngatsono’s side beat AS Otoho 3-1 a few days ago. The coach acknowledged that the matches are good for building confidence while speaking to Les Dépêches de Brazzaville:
Congo are drawn against Sudan, holders Senegal, and Nigeria. Ngatsono noted that the match against Sudan will be very crucial, as it could decide the journey of his side in CHAN. “It won’t be easy because we know this team (Sudan) is well-structured and there are great players. But this doesn’t matter. We are used to it, and our players have value too.”
Congo Brazzaville recently came out of a FIFA-imposed sanction. Ngatsono and his charges are racing to catch up on lost time before the CHAN 2024 finals kick off in a month.
