Madagascar coach Corentin Martins has explained why nothing is guaranteed in his team’s quest to qualify for the FIFA World Cup finals.
After seven games played, the islanders beat the Central African Republic (CAR) during the week to remain in second place. Ghana lead the standings despite being held to a one-all draw by Chad during the week.
With three games to go in Group I, Martins reminded his players that nothing is done and dusted as it is becoming difficult to win games.
“Not all matches are easy to play, as Chad equalized in the 90th minute against Ghana. After the victory, the most important thing is physical recovery to be 100% ready for Monday,” the Frenchman is quoted as saying by L’Express newspaper of Madagascar.
The Barea mentor drew positives from the game against CAR, especially from the fact that his team created scoring chances.
“We missed a lot of chances, which means we created a lot of them. We won a tough match because in the second half the Central African Republic put more pressure on us. In the first half, we had a lot of intensity. I’m satisfied with the players,” he added.
Madagascar travel to Chad on Monday for the return leg while Ghana take on third-placed Mali.
