Randy Nteka’s 48th minute goal sent Angola to the COSAFA Cup semifinals after edging Malawi 1-0 on Tuesday in South Africa. Angola join South Africa in the semifinals, who secured their place earlier on Tuesday in a dramatic conclusion to Group A.
The Palancas Negras finished Group B on top after taking their tally to seven points while condemning the Flames to the exit door without scoring in three games from the tournament.
In the other Group B match played simultaneously, Namibia confirmed their place as the runners-up with a dominant 3-0 victory over Lesotho. Bethuel Muzeu provided a goal and an assist for the Brave Warriors who finished strong but will regret missed opportunities in draws against Angola and Malawi.
Angola will face the winners of Group C in the semifinals, either Madagascar or Eswatini. Eswatini can pip Madagascar if they can defeat Tanzania on Wednesday.
