COSAFA Cup: Botswana coach Ramoreboli says Zebras were goal-shy against Comoros

Botswana coach Morena Ramoreboli says the Zebras were shy in front of the goal during their goalless draw against Comoros at the COSAFA Cup in South Africa on Monday.

The South African mentor described the result as not a true reflection of the Group D match played at Dr. Petrus Molemela Stadium in Bloemfontein.

“I don’t think it is a true reflection of the match, considering the number of opportunities we created,” he told COSAFA media.

“But I think we were a bit shy in front of the goal. We could have at least converted one. They only had one opportunity. Today, luck was not on our side and we did not score goals, but honestly speaking, I am happy with the performance, and many of them have adapted.”

The Zebras next take on eliminated Zambia on Wednesday, with Chipolopolo seeking to bow out on a high after a disappointing campaign. Wedson Nyirenda’s team started the tournament with a 1-0 loss to Comoros.

Ahead of the meeting with Zambia, Ramoreboli highlighted that his side needs to work hard to get a positive result. “Maybe going into the next match, we are going to score,” he said.

The group comprises three teams only, and the one with the most points after playing two matches will proceed to the semifinals. Botswana can still overtake Group D leaders Comoros and qualify for the final four if they defeat Zambia.
