Mozambique caretaker coach Eduardo Jumisse says his side’s 0-0 draw with Mauritius on Saturday in Group A of the COSAFA Cup has increased the pressure on the Mambas.
Jumisse said while the result kept Mozambique at the top of the group, it made life difficult heading into the final group match against Bafana Bafana on June 10.
“In the next game, we will try again. There are four teams in the group, and the fight is still in our hands. Football gives you three results: you can win, draw, or lose," he told COSAFA media.
"This draw gives us more pressure. If we had won, it would have given us six points and made us relax. We will fight in the last game and try to be in the next round.
“Both teams tried to score. We did everything to score, but this is football, we can try, but the goals don't come. When you see the goalkeeper for Mauritius getting the man of the match award, it says everything about the game," he added.
With the Mambas leading the group by one point over second-placed South Africa, all the leaders need is a point in the final group game.
However, it won’t be a straightforward task, as Vela Khumalo’s side need a win in the last match to be certain of a semi-final berth. Only the group winners advance to the semi-finals.
