Namibia coach Collin Benjamin has described Thursday’s COSAFA Cup game against Angola as a roller coaster of emotions after the two giants settled for a 1-1 draw in South Africa.

There was drama during the Group B game with the Brave Warriors scoring six minutes into added time to cancel out the Palancas Negras’ goal on the stroke of full time.

The match saw a red card flashed on a player for Angola who then went on to score, before the Namibians fought back to equalize. Video Assistant Referee was heavily involved, a development Benjamin alluded to.

“At 1- I, it was a roller coaster of emotions; it is what the game gave. It was a game of tight margins,” the former defender told COSAFA media.

The former Warriors captain described the result as a fair reflection of the proceedings, further explaining why they could not use their numerical advantage after Angola were reduced to 10 men.

“It is a reflection of the game in a sense that both teams played very well in the first half. We didn’t have scoring opportunities. It was a game where we were on the same wavelength with a lot of action in the midfield but no scoring opportunities,” he said.

“In the second half, we had an advantage. We were one man up, and in normal circumstances, you think you can calm down and get those chances. We didn’t because it is a phase where everybody is thinking that we have one man up and it is going to go automatically.”

The holders thought they had won the maximum points when Lauridindo Aurelio converted from the penalty spot on the dot of full time. Namibia’s Wise Lifasi had fouled Pedro Francisco to cost the Brave Warriors the penalty.

However, the 2014 COSAFA Cup finalists pulled themselves back into the contest through Ivan Kamberipa's equaliser.
