CAFWCL COSAFA Qualifiers: Ntopwa’s loss to Sundowns fair—Osman

Isaac Osman, coach of Malawi’s Ntopwa Ladies, has given an interesting reaction to his team’s 0-3 loss to Mamelodi Sundowns Ladies following Friday’s CAF Women’s Champions League COSAFA regional qualifying clash in South Africa.

Osman told COSAFA media that the result was fair considering that his Blantyre-based side punched above its weight against the Hollywoodbets Super League defending champions.

“Somewhere, somehow, we gave room for Sundowns to play,” the coach said.

“We tried to make a plan but the problem is that my girl didn’t know much about Sundowns. The game was fantastic. Even losing 3-0 is a fair result for my girls because some of them are very young and some of them are attending for the first time.”

Going into the next Group A match against Beauties of Namibia on Sunday, Osman promised that his team would bounce back, adding that he has no pressure as he also doubles as the team’s owner.

“I don’t have pressure because I am the coach and the owner of the club. My aim is to motivate the girls. That is why we are here,” he said.

“My achievement is to bring my girls here. A lot of the girls are from poor families. Some of them are from the streets. You know, I also grew up in the street. To take the girls from the street to showcase their talent and for them to come here in South Africa to participate in this tournament is my achievement…”

Osman described the tournament as a good platform for developing the next generation of players such as Temwa and Tabitha Chawinga.
