Malawi under-17 girls' national football team beat Mozambique 1-0 in Namibia on Friday to qualify for the 2025 COSAFA U-17 Women's Championship final.
The Malawians date neighbours Zambia in the final. The Copper Princesses saw off Zimbabwe 5-1 in the other semifinal on Friday.
For Malawi, they owed the win to Talandira Kachala. The youngster scored straight from an expertly taken freekick in the 84th minute of the semi-final at Hage Geingob Stadium in Windhoek. The Junior Scorchers qualified for the semifinal after 6-0 and 3-1 wins over Comoros and Namibia in Group A last Sunday.
On Friday, Malawi featured the likes of Alinafe Nyirenda, Cecilia Mzima and Faluna Umali who scored a hat-trick in the game against Comoros.
In the other semifinal, Zambia dominated the Zimbabweans. Midfielder Natasha Kasema scored in either half and the other goals came from Hellen Misozi Banda, Beatrice Phiri and Beatrice Njobvu.
Zimbabwe got their consolation through Dee Winnie Mapuwa. The final is scheduled for Saturday.
