Malawi under-20 national football team coach Millias Pofera says the Young Flames will be out to make history when facing hosts Namibia at the COSAFA Youth Championship on Tuesday.

The coach said his side wants to match the feat of the squad which reached the semifinal in 2011.

"It is a motivation to us and the country. We know this is an important and crucial match. We will just rely on our game-plan and execute it well. I think we will come victors," he said.

Pofera acknowledged the strength of the Young Brave Warriors and the advantage they have of playing at home.

"They are a good side and we know they will have home support. It will be a tough match but we know the areas to tackle. The boys are good to go. This is a crucial game and if we can pass this stage, we are eyeing to go as far as the final," he said.

The Young Flames need just a draw to sail through to the semifinals. The Malawians started the race with a 2-1 win over Zimbabwe before sharing the spoils at 1-1 with Angola.

Striker Mrisho Mhango was the scorer and provider in both games. The Young Flames will bank on the 17-year-old forward.
