Algeria Cup: CR Belouizdad survive scare to reach Round of 16

CR Belouizdad narrowly advanced to the round of 16 in the Algeria Cup (Coupe d’Algerie) after a 2–1 victory over Olympique Oued Fodda at Nelson Mandela Stadium in Baraki on Wednesday, in the round of 32 clash.

Oued Fodda drew first blood early in the 7th minute following a goalkeeper error, before Belouizdad responded ten minutes later through Abderrahmane Bekkour’s header to level the score. Regulation time ended 1–1, sending the match into extra time.

The decisive moment came in the second minute of the first half of extra time, when Abdelrahman Meziane scored to secure a dramatic win for Belouizdad who reached Algeria Cup round of 16.

The match was marked by tension in the stands, as CR Belouizdad supporters expressed their frustration by throwing water bottles toward the players — a reaction linked to the team’s heavy defeat 4-1 in their previous CAF Confederation Cup outing against Congo’s Otoho d’Oyo.
