CR Belouizdad head coach Sead Ramovic has claimed his recent trip to Spain for the UEFA Champions League game between Real Madrid and Olympique de Marseille was not for leisure. The German national is under heavy criticism from the Algerian club’s fans over his recent travel to Madrid to attend a match in the Spanish capital.

Ramovic, on Tuesday, September 16, posted on his Instagram handle as he watched the Champions League tie at Santiago Bernabéu. CR Belouizdad kicked off the new season with a single win in three league outings. The club is set to face El Bayadh in a week-four game on September 20, but Ramovic was seen in Madrid four days before the crucial Algerian Ligue 1 tie.
Ramovic took to Instagram to explain his side of the story as he clarified that he was not disrespecting the supporters by traveling. The former Young Africans tactician claimed his trip to Spain was to learn more about the style of play being implemented by Xabi Alonso and Roberto De Zerbi. “I believe in the same style of play and wanted to see where I can improve as a coach, so I can bring new ideas, energy, and strength back to my team.”
Supporters of Belouizdad are unhappy with the coach’s travel while a league game is on the horizon. The club has not issued any statement regarding the development. Ramovic, 46, took charge of the Algiers club in 2025 after leaving Tanzanian giants Yanga midway through the 2024/25 league season.
