Cypriot heavyweights APOEL Nicosia FC have bolstered their attacking options with the signing of Nigerian attacker Peter Olayinka. The 30-year-old joins the club on a free transfer, putting pen to paper on a deal that runs until May 2026.

Olayinka arrives in Cyprus as a free agent, having been unattached since his departure from Serbian giants Red Star Belgrade four months ago.

The Super Eagles forward brings a wealth of experience to the GSP Stadium. While his recent stint in Serbia has ended, his career numbers speak for themselves. Olayinka has featured prominently in the top flights of Albania, the Czech Republic, and Serbia, tallying an impressive 102 goals and 61 assists in 364 professional appearances.

However, he is most fondly remembered for his legendary stint with Slavia Prague. During his time in the Czech Republic, Olayinka etched his name into the history books as the club’s highest-scoring foreign player in European competitions. His remarkable Slavia record includes: Appearances: 180+. Goals: 50+ and Assists: 26.

In an official statement released on Thursday, APOEL welcomed the veteran campaigner.

“APOEL FOOTBALL (PUBLIC) LTD announces the start of its cooperation with Peter Olayinka. The duration of the cooperation is until May 2026. We welcome Peter to APOEL and wish him every success.”

Olayinka, who was part of Nigeria’s 2021 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) squad in Cameroon, will be eager to hit the ground running and rediscover his clinical form after a brief spell on the sidelines.

With APOEL constantly competing for silverware and European qualification, Olayinka’s arrival is seen as a major statement of intent for the remainder of the season.
