Daka: Leicester City FC media
Leicester City FC manager Gary Rowett has praised the commitment of striker Patson Daka going into Monday’s EFL Sky Bet Championship match against Sheffield Wednesday FC.
The Zambian international stepped up to the plate by scoring a brace when the Foxes eased their relegation fears with a two-all draw against Preston North End FC on Friday.

Rowett particularly noted the commitment of Daka who featured in the Sky Bet Champions game despite that he was jetlagged having just arrived in England from Argentina.
The former Red Bull Salzburg FC man played for the Chipolopolo in their 5-0 loss to the FIFA World Cup champions earlier last Tuesday before flying back to England.
“[I was] majorly impressed,” said the coach. “Pato [Daka] flew on a three-legged flight. It basically was from Argentina to Chile and from Chile to Paris and from Paris to England.
“Then he’s obviously got to travel here as well, I think from Birmingham. He got here, trained [on Thursday] for an hour. Your recovery isn’t going to be as good.
“I thought he was out on his feet at the end, but his energy, his work-rate was outstanding. He deserved the two goals today. It shows commitment.”
The coach added: “I’m pleased with the performance. Apart from the two [Preston] goals, there wasn’t that much to dislike about it. I think we are very, very unfortunate – with the statistics, in terms of the shots and shots on target – I thought we deserved to win the game.”
Ahead of the match against Sheffield Wednesday, the Leicester City manager called for the same level of energy and commitment which Daka epitomised during Friday’s game.
“We cannot go to Hillsborough with any sort of attitude that suggests we don’t have to do what we did [on Friday],” he said. “We must go with the same energy, the same determination, the same battling qualities. Then our qualities, hopefully, will create opportunities for us.”
Daka should be hoping to increase his tally which stands at six goals in 14 matches for the former Premier League champions. Leicester City face a serious threat of relegation as they lie second from the bottom.
Sheffield Wednesday anchor the table with a return to the third-tier league of English football imminent.
