Daka nets double for Leicester City: Farewell or redemption?

Zambia international forward Patson Daka scored a double for Leicester City FC in the 2-2 draw with North End Preston FC on Friday.

The Chipolopolo star put the hosts ahead barely after four minutes into the EFP Sky Bet Premiership game at the King Power Stadium

Preston responded with first-half strikes from forward Andrew Moran and midfielder Benjamin Whiteman, only for the African star to level matters with nine minutes to full-time.

This was not only about the Zambian trying so hard to save the Foxes from the EFL Sky Bet Championship relegation danger. It was also a last-ditch attempt to secure his stay at the club.

Daka is the subject of transfer speculation for the ailing Foxes who are third from the basement of the log table.

Therefore, every goal the Chipolopolo man scores carries with it great significance. It could either secure his stay with the former Premier League champions or signal a goodbye.

A return of five goals in 14 EFL Sky Bet Championship matches this campaign is hardly a convincing deliverable for someone who was supposed to be Jamie Vardy’s heir to the throne of goals.

Unfortunately, the goals are coming far and  few at a time the Foxes need a savioir to score with  unerring consistency.

Nonetheless, this was Daka’s best possible return from the international break after featuring in Zambia’s 5-0 loss to hosts Argentina.

The form of the former Red Bull Salzburg man has equally been disappointing with Zambia national team who are increasingly becoming a punching bag.

A razor-sharp Daka is what the Foxes and Zambia need at this dark Easter hour!
