If pre-season form is anything to go by, then Zambian Patson Daka is raising his hands that he can be Jamie Vardy’s perfect successor at Leicester City.

The Chipolopolo striker stood out to be counted on Friday, grabbing a double which handed the former Premier League champions a 2-1 victory over Ukrainian hosts FC Karpaty Lviv.
The Foxes featured a mixture of experienced players such as Daka and Nigerian Wilfred Ndidi, as they prepared for life in the second-tier league. Daka converted from the penalty spot in the 50th minute following a rash challenge on a Leicester player at Sportzentrum Friedberg Stadium.

The visitors’ equaliser came barely three minutes after Yaroslav Karabin’s strike from a freekick had handed Lviv an early lead. Some 23 minutes later, the former Red Bull Salzburg man added the second goal with a fine strike for the SkyBet Championship-bound visitors.
Daka’s form should encourage Leicester’s family especially new coach Martí Cifuentes in view of the recent retirement of the club’s leading scorer, Vardy. As we went to press, Leicester were taking on German side Cologne FC on Friday in a double header for the day.
It is the second consecutive win for the Foxes after they beat Zalaegerszegi 1-0 courtesy of Ghanaian Jordan Ayew’s strike on Saturday.
