Football Kenya Federation (FKF) Premier League club Mathare Uniteds have re-united Danson Kago, this time as an official and will be part of John Kamau’s technical team moving forward.
A former Mathare United player, Kago takes up the role of Fitness Coach and will work closely with Strength and Conditioning Coach Dismas Onyango in making the team fit and ready for what is expected to be a gruelling and competitive 2025/26 season.
A MYSA graduate, Kago joined the team in 2020 and played three seasons. In his final season with the club, the former Kenyan international briefly had John Kamau as coach and was on the scoresheet in our gaffer’s first match with us.
The two have a long shared history as they have previously worked together also at Posta Rangers and with the Harambee Stars. A one-time Premier League champion, Kago joins a technical bench filled with familiar faces.
Aside from Kamau, Onyango, and Julius Mativo, whom he had as a coach during his time with the club, the Githurai native has also previously worked with David Okello as they were teammates at Mathare, Tusker, Sofapaka and the Kenyan national team.
