Major League Soccer’s annual All Star Game took place on Wednesday evening in Austin, Texas and it was Los Angeles FC’s Gabonese superstar Denis Bouanga who played a key role in the opening goal for a 3-1 victory for the MLS All Stars against their counterparts from Mexico’s Liga MX.

In the 28th minute, Bouanga stole the ball in midfielder and embarked on a show-stopping run through the heart of the Liga MX defense. His initial shot was well saved by Mexico international goalkeeper Luis Malagon but Bouanga collected the loose ball and picked out Nashville SC striker Sam Surridge for a headed goal to make it 1-0 at Q2 Stadium.
The moment confirmed a strong start to the game for the MLS All Stars, who went on to double their advantage early in the second half through Philadelphia Union striker Tai Baribo. Brian White of Vancouver Whitecaps put the result beyond doubt late on after Club Tijuana’s 16-year-old prodigy Gilberto Mora pulled one back for Liga MX.
Bouanga is in sensational form at the moment for LAFC since a poor outing at the FIFA Club World Cup for the Los Angeles side. He has goal contributions in four consecutive league games, with five goals and two assists during this stretch.
LAFC return to league action on Friday when they host Portland Timbers.
