Nigeria players continued to shine in their respective leagues and domestic competitions across Europe with Cyriel Dessers' hat-trick helping Rangers progress to the fifth round of the Scottish Cup following a 5-0 victory over Fraserburgh at Ibrox on Sunday.

Dessers first of the evening came in the 28th minute when he headed James Tavernier’s cross past Joe Barbour for his 14th goal of the season.

Dessers' second came in the 57th minute before he completed the hat-trick in the 91st minute after the Super Eagles forward made a good run into the box and from a tight angle found the finish.

In the Premier League, forward Paul Onuachu grabbed his first goal for Southampton as they suffered a 3-2 defeat against Nottingham Forest. Onuachu started from the bench and came on in the 58th minute replacing Adam Armstrong.

He then scored his goal in the 91st minute. The game saw Nigeria star Ola Aina grab an assist for Forest while Joe Aribo featured for the Saints and Taiwo Awoniyi played for Forest. In French Ligue 1, Nigeria forward Moses Simon was on target but could not help Nantes beat St-Etienne in a 1-1 draw at Geoffroy Guichard Stadium.

Simon scored for Nantes in the 14th minute but Ghana international Augustine Boakye, who came on as a second half substitute, levelled matters for Etienne in the 86th minute.

The 29-year-old Super Eagles winger has managed 16 league appearances for Nantes, scoring five goals and providing five assists while Boakye has featured 11 times with three goals.
