Diatta, 26, has seen his playing time at Monaco reduced this season. The player, who can be deployed as a right winger and right back, used to be an integral part of the principality club for the past few seasons. Diatta has played 14 games in all competitions for Monaco this season, with 11 of those coming in French Ligue 1.
Monaco CEO Thiago Scuro stated that the club’s priority lies elsewhere rather than commencing contract talks with Diatta, as reported by Get French Football. “We are not talking about an extension at the moment. We are very focused on the club’s situation. We hope that he will have more of an impact and more minutes on the pitch. After that, we will decide together. It isn’t just a club decision; it is also the player’s choice. At the right time, we will talk.”
Diatta can sign a pre-contract with other clubs, and a move away from Monaco is possible with his contract ending at the end of the current season. Diatta missed the controversial 2025 AFCON final against Morocco due to illness. The player was superb during the tournament for the Lions of Teranga.
