Didi Dramani: Hearts of Oak coach cautious of workload ahead of GHALCA Top Four

Head coach of Hearts of Oak, Mas Ud Didi Dramni has stressed the need to manage the workload on his players as they prepare to play in the GHALCA Top Four.

The Top Four competition is an annual pre-season exercise organized by the Ghana League Clubs Association [GHALCA] for clubs that finish in the upper four on the log.

This campaign will feature league winners, Gold Stars, FA Cup winners Asante Kotoko, Heart of Lions and the 2000 CAF Champions League winners Hearts of Oak with games starting on Wednesday, August 20.

Didi Dramani said: “I think that it is a very good programme for the football industry but the timing of it is something that is worrisome. We need to try to alter the substitutions so that in this game [Homowo Cup] for instance, if you have just worked for two weeks you don’t go in for a high profile game.

“So that if you can do multiple substitutions it can be easy for you to bring in more legs so that you don’t stress.

“I estimated a maximum of sixty minutes for some players [but] I ended up pushing them to ninety minutes [and] for me deloading is so important, that’s the scientific aspect and we need to pay attention to this.

Hearts of Oak retained the Gbese Mantse Homowo Cup with a 2-0 win over Heart of Lions at the Accra Sports Stadium on Sunday.
