Dinamo Zagreb have added power to their attack with the signing of Algerian striker Mounsef Bakrar. The 24-year-old has penned a Multi-year deal with the Croatian giants, marking a return to familiar territory after a stint in the United States.

Bakrar joins Dinamo following two seasons with New York City FC in Major League Soccer, where he featured in the American-Canadian top flight. This move also signals his return to the SuperSport HNL, where he first made his mark with Istra 1961 back in July 2022.

Born on January 13, 2001, in Salah Bey, Algeria, Bakrar began his professional journey with ES Sétif before making the switch to Istra three years ago. His performances in Croatia earned him a move to MLS after one season.

To date, Bakrar has earned four caps for the Algerian senior national team, after progressing through the country’s youth ranks.

His arrival in Zagreb revives memories of another Algerian striker in blue— El Arbi Hillel Soudani—who played 5 seasons for the club between 2013 and 2018. He played 197 games, scored 86 goals and assisted 55 times.
