El Hadji Malick Diouf assists as West Ham continue sharp start to 2026

West Ham United have now won three of their last four Premier League matches following Saturday’s 2-0 victory at Burnley. Senegal left back El Hadji Malick Diouf’s assist for Taty Castellanos completed a brilliant opening half hour to give the Hammers an unassailable lead by halftime.

The 21-year-old left back’s cross was perfect for the Argentine to nod in. Finding room on the flank, Diouf generated all the power with his service for Castellanos to redirect the ball past Burnley keeper Martin Dubravka in the 26th minute.

Thirteen minutes earlier, in form forward Crysencio Summerville gave the visitors the lead to make it five goals in the Dutchman’s last five matches for the London club.

Diouf’s adaptation to the English top flight has had its ups and downs but there is no doubt that the Senegalese wide player has the quality to contribute when he gets forward to support the attack. He now has four assists in nineteen league appearances.

A disastrous first half of the campaign left the club in serious danger of relegation but they are showing signs of life during a crucial period. They remain in the drop zone but are only three points back of Nottingham Forest and an escape with thirteen matches remaining.

Next up is a quick turnaround back home where they will host Manchester United on Tuesday.

West Ham’s Revival Gathers Momentum

After a disastrous first half of the season that left the club deep in relegation trouble, West Ham are finally showing signs of life at a crucial stage of the campaign.

Despite remaining in the drop zone, the Hammers are now just three points behind Nottingham Forest, with 13 matches remaining. The recent run of results has restored belief among players and supporters that survival is achievable.

The improved defensive organisation, combined with renewed attacking confidence, suggests West Ham are finding the balance that had eluded them earlier in the season.
