Experienced left back Disan Galiwango has spoken of his excitement and motivation after completing a mid-season move to Uganda Premier League side URA FC, describing the transfer as a challenge he is fully ready to embrace.
The Ugandan international has signed a two-year contract with the Tax Collectors following his departure from Dodoma Jiji, becoming the club’s second acquisition of the window after Moses Waiswa. His return marks the end of a brief spell in Tanzania and the beginning of a new chapter back in the Ugandan top flight.
“I’m extremely happy to join URA FC,” Galiwango said after completing the move. “This is a club with clear ambitions and a strong identity. I’ve come here ready to work hard, help the team improve, and give my very best for the badge. I believe my experience can help us achieve our targets this season and beyond.”

Galiwango arrives with a reputation forged through success and consistency. He enjoyed a highly decorated three-year stint at Vipers SC between 2020 and 2023, where he won two Uganda Premier League titles and two Uganda Cups, establishing himself as one of the league’s most dependable left backs.
That championship pedigree is exactly what URA are banking on as they look to strengthen their squad for the second half of the season. Beyond his defensive quality, the club believes Galiwango’s leadership and winning mentality will be vital in pushing the team forward.
The defender is expected to step straight into the left-back role, an area where the club had been light in after Amis Bwangani, Shafiq Lugoloobi, and Faisal Matovu were all loaned out earlier in the campaign. Galiwango’s versatility also gives head coach tactical flexibility, with the option to deploy him higher up the flank when needed.
Head coach Hussein Mbalangu welcomed the signing, underlining the influence the former Vipers defender is expected to bring.
“Disan is a proven winner,” Mbalangu said. “He brings experience, professionalism, and a strong mentality into the squad. These are the qualities we need at this stage of the season to stabilize the team and push forward. His presence will be key as we work to turn performances into consistent results.”
Galiwango’s rise has been built steadily over the years. He began his football journey at Rifo Soccer Academy, earning a move to Simba SC during the 2015/16 season. After Simba’s relegation, he featured for The Saints FC before short spells at Water FC and Express FC.
His impressive form at Express paved the way for his successful Vipers SC move, followed by a venture into Tanzania with Kagera Sugar in 2023. He later joined Dodoma Jiji in August 2024 but mutually agreed to terminate his contract six months early to complete his return to Uganda.
Now back on familiar ground, Galiwango is clear about his mission: settle quickly, lead by example, and help his new club push toward their ambitions in the second half of the season.
